In Macau, the population is increasing rapidly. The size of living area affects our quality of life directly. IDEAL DESIGN provided an incredible design for a 45 sq meters apartment. This includes: creativity of environmental friendly; beauty of design and functionality.
Our designer optimized the apartment by removing the partition walls of kitchen, bathroom and bedroom. This can provide 45% functionality for the living room; 15% for the open kitchen, 15% for the working space. We also rearrange 45% functionality for the bedroom. You must be curious why the total functionality is 120%. The extra 20% is the effort from our designer. The main idea in this project is our designer designed 2 movable furniture: a shoe cabinet and a storage cabinet. The main function of the shoe cabinet is to divide the living room and kitchen. Our client can move the shoe cabinet in order to reorganize the size of usability of these two areas. In the middle of the living room and bedroom, we designed a huge movable storage cabinet which connecting with a sliding door. When the door is closed, it acts as a decorative wall. This storage cabinet is mainly to provide a private working space for the bedroom. If you move the storage cabinet to bed side, an area will be separated as a working space in the bedroom. This can increase the functionality and privacy.
Bathroom is a place for relaxation, so it should not be tiny. After renovation, the bathroom has much more space since we used electroplated translucent glass as the partition instead of the original partition wall. We also used 2 types of lighting: spot light and light trough. When it comes to illumination, you can use the spot light. And use the light trough when you are bathing.
Since the ceiling height of living room is not too high, our designer keeps the original suspended ceiling, and re-attached a wooden decorative texture. We also re-design a light trough ceiling in order to add more levels to the space. The reason of keeping the original suspended ceiling is to reduce renovation waste material.
We also designed a large glass wall for the bedroom and living room. This can give more interactive for both areas and also enlarge the space of the bedroom. The glass wall is designed mainly for illumination because there are no windows in the living room. Natural sunlight cannot go through the interior. So that’s why we designed the glass wall and movable cabinets. Once we moved the cabinets, natural light can go through the living room. This can illuminate the interior and also enhance environmental friendly concept.
The design of bedroom is also perfect, we got closet, working table, bed, bedside table, dressing table and movable cabinets. Our designer put a lot of effort on designing the movable cabinets. The bedside table and working table is connecting together. If we pull out one of the partitions, it becomes a small working desk. This can create 2 working space for 2 people living in this apartment.
